Synthesis of sentences – combining 2 or more simple sentences into 1 simple
Simple-compound-complex

I. Transform the following sentences as given below:
  1. Climbing up the tree, he plucked some mangoes.
Compound 

  1.  He was driven by rain and took shelter under a tree.
Simple
  1.  Besides being beautiful, she is intelligent.
Compound
  1.  He is poor but he is happy.
Simple
  1. Being innocent, he never thought of running away.
Compound
  1.  Besides being thrown into jail, he was heavily fined.
Compound
  1. The old man sat near the fire, smoking.
Compound

8.  By his pleasant manner, the boy became popular.

9. Besides a house, he gave them some land also.
Simple
10. You must take your medicine, otherwise you cannot get well.

11. The storm subsided and we continued our journey.

12. Not only the crops, but cattle and sheep also were destroyed by the flood.

II. Transform the following compound sentences into Complex sentences:
  1. Search his packet and you will find the watch.
  2. He wished to become learned; he studied very well.
  3. He is buried near Rome. Myrtles grow round his grave.
  4. He aimed to win the prize and worked hard.
  5. He put on his hat and went out.
  6. Do your best. You will never regret.
  7. Be diligent and you will succeed.
  8. Do this and you will be punished.
  9. Give me the book and I will read it.
  10. Take quinine, and your fever will be cured.
  11. I tell him to be quite, but he takes no notice of it.
  12. Be just, fear not.
  13. You called me and here I am.
  14.  The master is nearly blind and the boys are sorry for him.
  15. Listen and I will tell you all.
  16. Be careful in your diet, you will be healthy.
  17. He had recovered from illness and I am glad of it.
  18. He received a telegram, and he left in taxi.

III. Transform the sentences as directed:
